| "Off-season" can be "On-season" to Others! There is now no ferry service between New England and Nova Scotia and the former ferries only ran during the six month "off-season" between October and May, This service gap is planned to be filled by the year-round Boston-Halifax ferry project. Most often, the winter centered period is subject to more stormy weather than summer time, which could caused missed trips. The ship would in such cases layover in either port for suitable weather. Seaworthiness is also required by the Coast Guard and other agencies. A close example of nearby existing year-round service is the sea connection between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland that is provided by Marine Atlantic (see above link).
